⊕ OUR STORY

Peak was born out of a simple idea: build the kind of club where we'd love to be a member. That includes delivering high-level coaching, instructors who are dedicated to your development,

and a welcoming gym.

Our coaches have competed and taught across the UK and internationally, and our members regularly compete and medal at some of the biggest tournaments across the UK and abroad. But whatever you want to get out of the sport, we're proud to support every member equally, whether you're here to get fit, meet new people or compete at the highest level.

We're proud of the community we've built, where members come together to train hard, push themselves to try something new, and turn up to support each other whatever their age.

Alex Vernon

As a coach, Alex believes in meeting each student where they are in their journey, and is passionate about helping students work towards whatever their goals may be, be that in competition, fitness, or simply gaining greater confidence.

Alex is a well-rounded black belt and active competitor, with gold medals from ADCC professional divisions and the UK Nationals to his name. He counts representing Team GB at the UWW World Championships amongst his proudest achievements. He has coached across Europe numerous times from Iceland to Estonia, and takes great pride in the consistently strong results achieved by Peak’s members in competition.

After many years on the mat, Alex still loves the physical challenge and problem solving aspects of jiu jitsu, and the community that a good club creates.

Matthew Stuart

Matthew Stuart

As a coach, Matthew tries to treat every member as an individual and help them find the approach that works for them.

He says the best part of being a coach is helping people grow in confidence and succeed at things they once found impossible.

He started training MMA in 2010 and after a handful of matches he made the move to full time Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He hopes the brain damage will clear up any day now.

Matthew won his division of the BJJ British Open at Brown Belt and Black Belt. By day he works as an electrical engineer, and outside of jiu jitsu, he enjoys woodcarving, shoddy DIY, and writing short personal bios for himself.

Sam believes jiu-jitsu can be for everyone. Whether it’s just a fun hobby, a way to keep fit or you have competitive aspirations.

He has a strong belief that you should leave jiu-jitsu feeling better than when you arrived because jiu jitsu is a fantastic way to make lifelong friends and socialise. He himself has been lucky enough to travel doing jiu jitsu and has made many a friend near and far because of jiu jitsu.

His proudest achievement is winning gold in his division at the IBJJF London Open and aims to compete as often as possible. But if competing isn’t for you, he still ensures jiu jitsu can meet your goals/needs and you leave with a smile on your face.
