Free Beginners Intro Session

If you’ve been curious about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, or you’re looking for a new way to keep fit, challenge yourself, and train with a community, this is for you.

Our Free Beginners Intro Session is a 1–1 (or small group) session with one of our coaches at Peak Jiu Jitsu in Stafford. It’s designed to give you a clear, beginner-friendly first step into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, so you can understand the sport, how training works, and what you’ll be doing in class before you have the opportunity to jump in with everyone else.

You don’t need any experience, you don’t need to “get fit first”. The intro is simply a comfortable way to start a truly rewarding sport, one that builds fitness, grit, discipline, and confidence over time.

After you book, we’ll confirm a time with you and share anything you need to know before you arrive.

What your intro session will include:

  • A quick rundown of what Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is.

  • A guided look at how a class works.

  • Key fundamental positions for beginners.

  • A few simple drills so you can get a real feel for training.

  • Time to ask questions, and the freedom to try things at your pace.

A man in a black martial arts gi appears to be giving a jiu-jitsu or Brazilian jiu-jitsu training session on another person lying on the ground, wearing white gis. The setting appears to be indoors with a neutral background.

Why Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is one of the UK’s fastest-growing sports, and for good reason. It’s engaging, challenging, and you train alongside a great community. It rewards consistency: the more you show up, the more you improve.

Over time, you’ll build strength, skill, and confidence, and you’ll have the option to push yourself in the direction that suits you, whether that’s simply committing to something new, working toward a personal milestone, or even competing.

People start BJJ because they want:

  • A full-body workout that doesn’t feel like the same repeat routine

  • Something that builds fitness, discipline, and confidence over time

  • A hobby that challenges them mentally as well as physically

  • A strong community that helps them stay consistent

Intro Session FAQs

  • Yes! If you have an injury or a medical concern, tell us when you book so we can guide you appropriately.

  • No! You’ll build fitness as you train and your introduction session will be tailored to your fitness level.

  • No. These intro sessions are designed for complete beginners. Alternatively, if you’ve taken a long break from training, feel free to also book in and ease yourself back into training.

  • Due to the nature of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, maintaining a good level of hygiene is crucial. This is not just to keep our club clean and a desirable place to train, but to keep yourself safe. Prior to your first session, please:

    • Bring a clean set of exercise clothes to every training session.

    • Trim your nails - long sharp nails could cut or scratch your training partners in the middle of sparring

    • Similarly, remove any jewellery before training as this could get caught, pulled or scratch your training partners.

    • Cover any open cuts with a plaster. We can also provide you with tape/spray plaster if you forget.

  • All you need to start is some sports clothing. We ask that you try to avoid wearing anything with pockets, buckles or zips as these can scratch our training partners and catch fingers/toes.

If you hair is long, or needs to be tied back, avoid using any metal clips or slides as these can scratch.

We have a strict rule of no shoes on the mat and no bare feet off the mat. If it makes you feel more comfortable, we would recommend bringing some flip flips/sliders to wear as you move between the mat and the non-matted areas of the gym.

  • A gi is not required for any of our classes. If you’d like to try out training in the gi before purchasing one, let one of our coaches know who will be able to provide you with a spare gi.

  • We’re in Stafford: 19–21 Centurion House, Anson Court, Stafford Technology Park, ST18 0GB. There is plenty of parking available on site.

  • We’ll contact you to confirm a time for your intro session and share the details you need before you arrive.
